The Marathon for culture, shopping and... for anyone who likes to run fast

Milan welcomes you on April 10th to run the fastest marathon in Italy and take in the atmosphere in an extraordinarily fascinating city.

Milan is a metropolis in Northern Italy where both culture and enterprise flourish, but it is also a cosmopolitan city merging different cultures, needs and the very essence of Italian life. Milan is, after Rome, the most populated Italian city with 1,302,000 inhabitants. It is one of the most important bases for industrial, commercial and banking activities on the peninsula.

The symbol of Milan has always been the Duomo, in the gothic style from Lombardy, and the fascinating piazza with the nearby Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.

Today, Milan is an international point of reference for the worlds of fashion, architecture and design.Milan’s prestige on a cultural and artistic level is tied to the Teatro la Scala (a temple of lyrical music in the world), the Piccolo Teatro (which is connected to Strehler’s theater school) and to the splendid Last Supper of Leonardo da Vinci created around 1495. It would be remiss to forget the Milan of art museums, the characteristic streets of Brera and the private art galleries filled with incessant movement and continuous events.

Milan is the city of “fashion” par excellence. The Golden Quadrant of fashion (via Montenapoleone, via della Spiga, corso Venezia and via Sant’Andrea) is a magical place and at the same time more than real, where the dreams presented on the catwalk become reality. In this broad intersection of streets the emblems of all the most famous designers can be found.

Running in Milan next April 10th thus means immersing yourself in many unforgettable experiences; it means enjoying and living fully in a unique and extraordinary city. The marathon course is extremely fast and in 2011 will be updated to render it more intriguing for those after a personal best. It begins in the scenic Rhon and will end after 42.195 km in front of the Castello Sforzesco.
