Over 16,000 runners are expected to line up in London’s famous Hyde Park this year, in only its 3rd edition!
The magnificent 13.1 mile route passes some of London’s most iconic sites, coursing down Constitution Hill along The Green Park, past Buckingham Palace, through St James’s Park to Big Ben, along the Thames River and back, traversing Whitehall, Trafalgar Square and The Mall. Back in Hyde Park, the route continues through breathtaking avenues of aged oak, plane and chestnut trees gleaming red and gold against the cloudless blue sky. The final stages of the half marathon takes runners past Speaker’s Corner and into Kensington Gardens, passing KensingtonPalace and the Albert Memorial - its gilding glinting in the late morning sun - beforeskirting The Serpentine to the finish once again on Hyde Park’s South Carriage Drive.
The race is superbly organised, ensuring a clearly signposted route, hundreds of helpful race marshals, plenty of water and energy drinks and an unrivalled atmosphere along the way!
In 2010 the half marathon raised over £2 million for 160 UK registeredcharities, including the four race partner charities: Asthma UK, Blue Cross, Right to Play and UNICEF.
This is one race not to miss in 2011! For more information on how to sign up, please visit www.royalparkshalf.com.
